Bargoed Chamber of Trade welcomes the news that Morrisons have confirmed that they are to set up a 56000 sq ft store in Bargoed.

The news after many years of frustration and negotiation means that the regeneration can confidently proceed and the Greater Bargoed community will enjoy the many benefits that the developments will bring to Bargoed.

Chamber of Trade president, Brian Jarrett, was one of the first to hear confirmation that Morrisons was definitely coming to the town.  He said:
"I'm delighted that the announcement has come during my first month as president, and I should like to give thanks to the officers and members of Caerphilly Borough Council, the Assembly, the developers, to Morrisons itself and the many who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this scheme to fruition.
Work to make Bargoed one of the region's top retail destinations is well under way. Some amazing redevelopment plans are being put in place, and together with the new supermarket will make the town even more attractive for shoppers.

The expected three hundred new jobs at Morrisons and the news that The Original Factory Shop is destined for the former Woolworths store will give new confidence to the traders who can look forward to a bright future for the town."
