CIVIC AWARD FOR CHAMBER SECRETARY

The contribution of Bargoed Chamber of Trade Secretary Dave Collins to the local community has been recognised with a Civic Award from Caerphilly county borough council.

19 April 2010

His nomination was:

“in respect of his tireless work for the town over many years, a man who has devoted what little leisure time he has as a prominent business man to charitable works and civic activities.

Mr Collins is a man who has fought for the future of the town regardless of political persuasions and is hugely respected by all people who he has worked with to secure the best for his community”.

Dave has been a member of the Bargoed Chamber of Trade for almost 15 years being Secretary for most of  that time and President on 2 occasions. He represents the Chamber on the Bargoed Town Centre Management Committee and without his efforts the effectiveness of the Chamber would be seriously weakened.

As well as his Chamber activities Dave has been involved with the Rotary Club of Bargoed for 12 years and a past Secretary of the Club.

Dave is also Treasurer of Caerphilly Business Forum, and a Governor of Ystrad Mynach College and St Gwladys School.

His significant community involvement is in addition to his day job of Senior Partner of Fooks & Co, the Accountancy firm which also operates the Santander agency in Bargoed.
